Ten years ago I came to Cologne to start talking about agriculture standards harmonisation. Today having had a good life as part of the Global Good Agriculture Practice (Global GAP) community I am back but batting for the ther side - the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI).
Funny how things work out. They say that you should never close doors and here is a great example. Same office, same meeting room, actually a few of the same people just a different hat for Homer.
I am still proud of my contribution to Globalgap and still support the broad objectives of the scheme. Ten years on I have a new broader view and a new team uniform but still the same objectives of reducing duplcation of audit and reducing costs.
Budget airlines mean rubbish travel times so the 7.15pm flight from Cologne home is my only option despite finishing my meeting at 2pm.
What to do ? ...
Starbucks, McDonalds or sit in a café drink some cold Kolsch beer and look at the Dom Cathedral ....
With at least three hours to kill I have to drink slowly at risk of not makng the flight but being swept up with the braatwurst trash at midnight.
Back in Cologne for probably the twentieth time but the Kolsch still tastes good.
Cheers !
